Collections

The College Archives collects, preserves, and makes accessible historical records documenting the history of SUNY Potsdam, from its founding as the St. Lawrence Academy in 1816 to the present. These materials represent our campus history from the perspectives of former and current administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Significant college collections include the President’s Office records, the Crane School of Music records, the President's Office records, the Pioneer Yearbook collection, the Racquette Newspaper collection, and many more.

In addition to our College Archives holdings, our Special Collections unit focuses on select aspects of Northern New York History. Included in these collections are the papers of Congressmen Bertrand Snell and David O’Brien Martin, as well as books and other historic materials that document the Adirondacks, the St. Lawrence River and Seaway, and local history.
