Florence Howard enrolled at the Potsdam Normal School in 1898 at the age of fifteen. Howard graduated from the Normal School in 1903 with a teaching diploma from the Classical Course curriculum. While at the Normal School Howard was a member of the Calliopean Literary Society.
The collection contains four notebooks from academic courses (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, and Latin Methods) taken by Florence Howard while attending Potsdam Normal School. Three of the notebooks were printed by Potsdam printer J.R. Weston specifically for students of the Normal School.
