Library Card

You must present your library card to borrow materials.

• Faculty, Staff and Students: Your SUNY ID card serves as your library card.
• Community  and Associated Colleges Borrowers: Go to the circulation desk at either the Crane or Crumb Library with photo identification, drivers license or student ID to obtain a library card.

Fees, Replacement Charges and Appeals

• 2-5 days late (depends on format of borrowed materials.  Shorter loan periods have shorter periods before considered "late") – $5 dollar late fee - for students, charged to their college bill
• 5-15 days late (depends on format of borrowed materials) or returned damaged – Charge to replace the item, including a processing fee - for students, charged to their college bill. These charges are non-refundable and are substantial.  Once it goes over to the college billing office, it is out of the libraries' control.  Return or renew your items on time to avoid this!  The non-refundable policy applies to YOU.

• SUNY Potsdam students - when outstanding charges remain on your college bill, the Office of Student Accounts will charge late fees and place a hold against your college record.
• Community borrowers and College Faculty and Staff will be blocked from using library services until the fees are paid.

Distance Learning Students

Do you take SUNY Potsdam classes at Jefferson Community College?

You can request books, articles, and other library materials (including those owned by SUNY Potsdam) through interlibrary loan at JCC or Potsdam. For more information see Get books or Articles From JCC or Potsdam.

Are you taking online classes?

If you need physical materials (e.g. paper books) from the library and live outside of nearby zip codes, you may discuss your need for library materials with Holly Chambers at 315-267-3312.
